In 2023, Loop proposed a unique project to a group of local designers. The proposal consisted of creating a product from waste discarded by the island's hotel sector. To carry out this work, they put us in touch with Deixalles, which, thanks to its ‘Fem que circuli’ programme, obtains a large amount of materials from this sector.
Muta is a piece of furniture designed for the hotel sector. Inspired by the nomadic lifestyle, it is easy to transport and has a folding system for storage. In addition, the screw connections allow the parts to be separated, making it a repairable and easily recyclable product. Muta is born from the reuse of wood and fabric from the hotel's own tables and curtains, which have been transformed to create this new piece. Two brass bars hold the fabric in place without the need for screws or staples. This means that if the fabric needs to be cleaned or replaced, it can simply be removed from the bars. Finally, the leather straps serve as handles for transporting the structure and as fastenings for storage.
